Top-ranked Roger Federer beat Fernando Gonzalez in straight sets in the Australian Open final to clinch his 10th Grand Slam tennis title.

Federer, 25, beat the 10th-seeded Chilean 7-6 (7-2), 6-4, 6-4 to record a career-best 36th consecutive victory and win the season-opening major in Melbourne for the third time.
